Our goal is to unify Christians through a strong doctrinal purity that Scripture assures us provides cleansing and power. Because there are so many groups of Baptists, and the Doctrine varies greatly, there is always going to be among every group those who do not adhere to certain Doctrinal Positions. It is likely that will be the case among Restored Baptists as well, but, because this is an open Forum Discussion Board we can address any and all doctrinal differences or objections. It is often difficult, in a typical Church gathering, to have such open communication and discussion of doctrinal issues that members may either be uninformed about or outright reject. It is doubtful you will find a single solitary congregation where every member agrees with every point of that groups' doctrinal Statement of Faith, but seldom are those doctrinal differences brought to the attention of the leadership. And unfortunately, in some cases, when those differences are sought to be discussed, leadership may react negatively because their authority is challenged in their minds.
But that is not the case here, because there is no greater authority than the Word of God, and all debates are to be settled by that Final Authority (Scripture).
As to the name "Restored Baptist Assembly," the concept goes something like this:
John was a Baptist, Paul was a Baptist, the Lord Jesus is still a Baptist...
...So I'm a Baptist too.
The concept is to restore our doctrinal views to that which was found in the First Century Church, and taught by Christ and the Apostles. It is my view that Baptists can be traced back to the First Century, so we are not talking of a "reformation" of Baptist Theology traced back centuries, but a restoration to First Century Doctrine which is verified and validated by the Word of God. For example, many nay-sayers of the Rapture-and in particular the Pre-Tribulation Rapture-make the statement that this doctrine "began" in the 18th Century, but, we can see the teaching of the Pre-Trib Rapture in the First Century teaching of Paul. Hence we restore our views, based on Scriptural support, to the teaching of Paul the Apostle. Another example would be concerning Regeneration (the New Birth): modern Theology usually teaches a comparable salvation between Old Testament Saints and New Covenant believers who have been Baptized with the Holy Ghost (immersed into eternal union with God through Reconciliation). Yet Christ taught that the receiving of the Promised Spirit, which He taught would be an everlasting union...was yet a future event in the lives of the disciples.
As we look at Church History we see a common pattern of embraced Theology that is embraced, not because born again believers filled with the Spirit of God have looked into the Word of God, but because a notable teacher of yesteryear taught that doctrine. Sometimes loyalties lie more strongly with the teachings of men for some groups. Centuries of division would end if men and women did one thing...read their Bibles. And what I have found is that those who have a strong desire to know the Word of God better often gravitate to where the Word of God is being discussed, and in this day and age that is on Christian Doctrinal Discussion and Debate Forums. I view discussion and debate to be the single greatest method of accelerating our understanding of Scripture...hands down. Those who frequent forums usually immerse themselves in the Word of God on a daily basis, rather than one or two times a week, and the difference that makes shows.
